Jake Fairbanks was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and now lives and works in Los Angeles as a director and producer.

His love of cinema started early, sparked by the New Hollywood films his parents showed him growing up — The Shining and Dog Day Afternoon chief among them. Those formative nights opened the floodgates, leading Jake to seek out the work of Ingmar Bergman, David Lynch, and Martin Scorsese on his own.

Jake recently completed his thesis film, She Chose the Clouds, which begins its festival run in the fall of 2026. In the meantime, he is continuing to write, create, and dream into the next project.
